Dear Debbie,

I met this awesome girl on Match.com and fell hard for her. The problem is I’m not sure if she is hot enough for me. She’s sweet and fun, but she’s only average looking. Should I dump her to find someone hotter?

Dear Shallow,

The real question here is less about your girlfriend’s looks and more about you.
Every guy would like to be seen with a beautiful girl on his arm - and there is nothing wrong with that.

But in this case, I suspect the problem may be deeper than that. Some men think that a hot girl will make them look better in front of other guys. Or that if there was a fine woman on their arm, then people would respect them more.

If you really “fell hard” for this girl, then you would think she’s hot no matter what. Confident and mature guys don’t care what their buddies think about their woman, because they are cool with her looks and cool with themselves.

Of course, you could be a confident and cool guy who is just not into this girl. In that case, let her go.

Just remember that a hotter girl might walk off the web and into your bed, but there’s no guarantee that she’ll satisfy you either.
